Person assaulted in late-night Mt Eden burglary

A person has been hospitalised after an aggravated burglary in Auckland.

Police are investigating after a group forced open a window at a Dominion Road address in Mount Eden about 11.15pm on Wednesday.

Detective Senior Sergeant Martin Friend said the offenders threatened the occupants with a weapon, assaulting one of them and stealing some of their personal items, before fleeing on foot.

Friend did not say what the weapon was, but confirmed it was not a firearm.

One of the people at the property was seen to by ambulance staff and taken to hospital in a moderate condition.

Friend said the investigation was in the very early stages.
