The Auckland regional fuel tax has been scrapped.

MP were sitting long hours as the coalition pushes progress on its 100-day plan.

Scrapping Auckland's regional fuel tax was part of this commitment.

Legislation to do so passed with support from coalition parties late last night.

Transport Minister Simeon Brown said he was proud the scheme, which officially ends on June 30, had been scrapped.

"The Coalition Government is focused on the issues that matter to Aucklanders," he said.

"Lowering the cost of living, focusing investment on reducing congestion, boosting productivity, and driving economic growth."

Brown said the remaining regional fuel tax funding would be directed towards transport priorities shared by both Auckland Council and the coaliton.

"Auckland Council and the Government mutually agree that the Eastern Busway, electric trains and stabling for City Rail Link and road corridor improvements will be the three priorities for the remaining RFT funding," Brown said.
